01. Jungle Beach

Jungle Beach used to be quite isolated. You’d need to go up the Peace Pagoda, well off the main strip, and then hike in a circle round a peninsula before you arrived. Now you still need to get to the Peace Pagoda but they’ve cut some stairs straight down the hill and once you get there there are beach beds and a little restaurant.

The beach is nice, it’s swimmable, not rough and just the right size. When there are too many people, however, it becomes like any other crowded beach, AKA, not cool. Jungle Beach is still far enough from the main strip that not sooo many people come.

02. Koggala Lagoon

The largest lake in the island, Koggala lake is an unspoilt ecological haven a few hundred meters away from the resort. The small islands scattered in the lake ideal for bird watching at sunset. This beautiful turquoise lagoon is just a couple of kilometers away from the town; dotted with rocky islands & fringed with mangroves. The lagoon teems with birdlife & supply prawns in abundance. Motor boat trips & catamaran rides take you to the smaller islands around the lagoon, each showcasing a unique experience in itself.

04 . Unawatuna (Snokerling & Diving)

Unawatuna is a town in southern Sri Lanka. It’s known for its coral reef and its palm-lined beaches, like Unawatuna Beach. Nestled in nearby jungle, the Japanese Peace Pagoda has a stupa with ocean views. The Sea Turtle Farm and Hatchery south of town protects endangered species.
